Growing up, I watched my father run his own metal fabrication business, for as long as I can remember I have always been exposed to projects; learning to be creative, making pieces come together and ensuring that everything worked as intended.
The driving force that encouraged me to learn more about woodworking came to me back when I was in junior high school, from my metal and woodworking teachers. Both were instrumental in teaching me additional skills, maintaining and expanding my interest in working in those areas, which ultimately reinforced my passions, especially for working with wood.
After serving in the Navy, I went on to college and majored in industrial arts, with an emphasis in woodworking. During my time in college, I had the opportunity to visit with several businesses, like what my business is today, furthering my desire to learn more.
Upon graduating from college, I had the opportunity to teach high school woodworking classes, and continued to do so for 26 years. During that time, I also taught furniture-refinishing classes for night school, advancing my experience and skillsets along the way.
Over the years, I have been working continuously from one special project to the next, so once I retired, I decided to do what was only natural: Turn my favorite hobby into a full-time “Furniture Repair, Restore, and Refinish” business. That was more than 50 years ago.
I truly enjoy working with wood and taking on new challenges to restore a piece of furniture or when I create a new look for my customers. The smile on their face, their excitement in seeing their project restored, is priceless for me. Basically, I like making people happy.
